The Denver Performing Arts Complex

Control Systems

Encompassing four city blocks on 12-acres, The Denver Performing Arts Complex is the world’s largest arts complex, with 10 performance spaces connected by an impressive 80-foot high glass roof. The original pneumatic control system was replaced with a state-of-the-art Bacnet DDC system by MSI. The complex now enjoys centralized control and energy management, improved temperature and humidity control and improved energy efficiency.

JP Morgan Chase

Energy Management

This is a 51,000 square foot JP Morgan Chase office building. MSI performed an energy audit and provided engineering for mechanical and control system upgrades. New VAV boxes were installed, new hard pipe duct runs replaced long flex runs and new hot water pipe insulation was installed. A state of the art Distech building management system was installed to replace the old pneumatic controls. MSI did all the Xcel Energy rebate applications and obtained approximately $30,000 in rebates from Xcel Energy for the upgrades performed. This money was paid directly to JP Morgan Chase to help offset the cost of the project.

EPA Region 8 Headquarters

Control Systems

The EPA Region 8 Headquarters offices in downtown Denver serves 6 states, 27 sovereign tribal nations and roughly 10 million people. The project was a fast track, design build concept and MSI was chosen to provide the Bacnet DDC control system. The control system operates VAV systems for the lower floor tenant areas, the under floor system for the EPA offices, building pressurization control and life safety pressurization control.

This building is the largest LEED certified project in Colorado. The EPA office floors are served by underfloor variable volume heating and cooling system and the lower tenant floors have a traditional ceiling delivered heating/cooling system, all controlled by a Bacnet DDC system designed and installed by MSI. The DDC system also controls the atrium pressurization, garage CO2 control and life safety pressurization of evacuation routes. MSI was instrumental in the building commissioning and building efficiency documentation required for the LEED gold certification.

North Metro Fire Department

LEED Certified

This project is a new office administration building for the North Metro Fire Department. The project is LEED silver certified and consisted of two high efficiency gas fired heating/cooling VAV roof top units with heat recovery. Air distribution is done thru VAV boxes with hot water re-heat. MSI also installed a state of the art Distech building management system that controls all of the buildings heating and cooling equipment. MSI performed all mechanical and control systems work for this project and assisted in obtaining the LEED silver certification.

Denver Health

Mechanical

MSI was selected to replace the primary roof top VAV systems for Denver Health’s infectious disease facility. The project had to be performed while keeping the facility functioning, as well as maintaining infection control protocols when working inside the building. The project was performed on budget, with minimal disruption to the facility and no one got sick.

McNichols

Mechanical

The McNichols building is a historic Denver landmark. When it’s heating and cooling systems needed replacing, the city turned to MSI to provide a complete system replacement, including all hot water, chilled water and air handling systems. Because of the historic nature of the building and the limited doors available, all equipment had to be disassembled outside the building, then reassembled inside.
